In this manner, the steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver's commands, while it stabilizes the structure against the driving pressure affecting the model during the drive. The tread's flat footprint maintains the tire's road and terrain surface contact, which enhances its steering responsiveness and driving stability. The tread design and reinforced internal structure increase the model's controllability. This keeps the tire's contact with the road and terrain surface and avoids stone retention from harming the tire's casing, resulting in an upgraded driving safety. They disperse mud and snow and eject rocks stuck between the tread elements. The staggered tread blocks, open shoulders and optimal groove design maintain a clean footprint. The Traction Notches and the five-row pattern enhance the model's multi-angle grip, increasing its forward traction in deeper mud and loose dirt. The tread features Traction Notches that improve the model's performing capability and promotes a safer soft, loose and uneven terrain gripping ability. The tread design's flat footprint and optimized tread elements enable the tire's on- and off-road surface gripping ability. The model ensures an excellent all terrain performance. The increased all weather traction and hydroplaning prevention guarantee a secure year round performing capability. When driving on-road, the tread's optimal groove pattern manages to avoid hydroplaning by eliminating water and slush from below the tire's footprint. This allows the tire to safely perform on ice- and snow-covered surfaces, which earned it its three mountain peak and snowflake symbol. The compound keeps its flexibility throughout the year, including in colder temperatures, while the high siping detail and the staggered tread blocks of the tread design boost the performing capability year round. The model combines an excellent all weather compound and a detailed symmetric tread design to increase the dry, wet and winter weather road and terrain gripping ability. The tire offers first-rate all weather traction. General offers a 60,000 mile treadwear warranty with the metric sizes and a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty with the light truck and flotation sizes of this tire model. I’m currently waiting on a response from general tire and if I get information from them I will post an update. The General Grabber ATX is an all terrain, all weather tire manufactured for SUVs and light trucks. The questions I have are:ģ) Did they buyout General tire then this specific size get put on hold?Ĥ) Did General tire stop making this size? If so I’m kind of fucked if I blow a tire it would seem. Even General tire’s website doesn’t show they make them. No one has these tires in 265/70r16, except for tirerack. Since I’m 80% settled on this specific tire I’ve been looking at where to buy them. I’m currently in a FWD hatchback and have never had issues on the roads here since on this vehicle I have my summer set and a studded winter set. Roads get icy and I understand a non-studded tire can’t be amazing but some (like the ATx) can give me confidence on the roads. I live in an area where it’s ideal to have studded tires but that is very expensive so I’ve been researching decent all terrain tires that can work year round for me. I will be using my truck (2022 Tacoma trd off road DCSB!) as a daily driver mostly, with light off-roading, and will be towing a 5x10 trailer (firewood) fairly often during the summer. I have been strongly considering the general grabber ATx tires in a 265/70r16. Thanks to everyone who participated and tried to help.Ĭrosspost from wheels and tires for visibility, not sure if this is ok if not a mod you can delete the thread. I ended up buying 4x of these tires and will be receiving them tomorrow. They may still become out of stock, let’s say a year from now but they are not going to be discontinued. He said that his system is showing he is getting more in stock and there are more shipment coming in the future. His best guess was this size is currently backordered through General Tire and/or they have taken a break from making this specific size. UPDATE: called tirerack again and got a different person.
